I am very passionate about supporting athletes in their development, seeing them progress and achieve their goals. In 2023, I realised that swimmers looking to improve their technique can easily arrange private lessons through swim instructors, and students seeking to enhance their knowledge in a specific subject can hire private tutors. Similarly, athletes aiming to boost their strength or fitness on land can work with personal trainers. However, water polo athletes have very few options for similar support.
This inspired me to offer 1-1 sessions, initially with the Scottish U18 boys squad in 2023 and later expanding to a broader water polo community through the BMC Cup summer 1-1 sessions in 2024 and 2025. After the success of the 2025 summer 1-1 sessions, which attracted over 20 young athletes, I began exploring ways to provide more consistent support throughout the year, rather than just a single summer session.
After careful consideration, I am excited to announce a new opportunity for athletes to sign up for personal coaching with me at any point during the year. This is open to all athletes, from age 12 to senior level, who want to enhance their water polo skills. Whether your aim is to take your game performance to the next level, or to refine your fundamental skills and techniques ahead of national squad trials, this is an exciting opportunity for me to assist you in reaching your water polo goals.
Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions – 07815439028.

Coaching Services Available
I currently offer 3 coaching services (all subject to availability):
Technical 1-1 Session
These sessions will last between 60 and 90 minutes, during which I will work directly with the athletes in the water. They typically occur during public swimming sessions and can be held at various local pools. These sessions are excellent for enhancing individual skills and techniques but generally won’t involve ball handling or video feedback.
The goal is to assist in improving any aspect of your game where you currently lack confidence. Some examples of these areas include (but not limited to):
– Getting free for the ball from defenders – Protecting the ball – Winning a foul – Turning/spinning opponents (with the ball) – Driving (without the ball) – Creating opportunities from counter attacks – Defending players with the ball – Defending players on the arc / drives – Skills required to perform an effective drop defence – Centre forward skills – Centre back skills
Cost – varies depending on duration of session and pool location (£60 – £120)

1-1 or Small Group Session
These sessions are typically 2hrs and held on Saturday afternoons at Carnegie Leisure Centre. They are likely to be offered less frequently than the Technical 1-1 Sessions, as they depend on the availability of the pool and myself.
They can be conducted as 1-1 sessions with me or as part of a small group (2-6 players), based on demand. Small group sessions will only be offered if multiple players have requested to focus on the same areas and all agree to this format. These sessions will use balls and video feedback to help illustrate the coaching points.
Athletes can work on any of the skills and techniques from the Technical 1-1 Session, along with the following additional topics (but not limited to):
– Passing technique – Shooting technique – Various types of shots (lob, bounce, fake, 1v1, wrap around, etc)
Cost – varies depending on the number of athletes (£60 – £140)
During the summer 1-1 sessions, athletes often asked for help improving their game awareness however, without an actual game, it was difficult for me to help with this.
I’m delighted to now be able to offer a service that will not only teach athletes when and how to apply their skills effectively in a game, but also boost their overall game and tactical understanding.
The session includes Ali Campbell reviewing video footage of a game you participate in and then offering detailed feedback on your performance through in depth video analysis. This can be conducted either in person or, more commonly, via a Zoom call.
You are welcome to record the game yourself (most modern smartphones are suitable), or I can attend the game in person to film and provide immediate feedback.
This approach is excellent for enhancing general game and tactical awareness and can serve as a foundation for identifying areas to focus on in future coaching sessions.
Cost Breakdown
– Video analysis & feedback session – £105
– Game attendance/filming – £35 (optional)
Looking for a more affordable video analysis option? Why not take advantage of the Teammate Package (see details below).

Teammate Package
This is designed to make the video analysis package a little more affordable for athletes who think they will benefit from it. The package lets 2 athletes taking part in the same game, split the cost of a full Game Performance Analysis session for only £65 per athlete! The athletes do not need to be from the same team.
This package consists of a full Game Performance Analysis package, including me attending the game in person to film. There is also the option of a joint or individual video analysis feedback session to go over the game.
